Terrorism charges for going for a picnic 2020-12-22 10:42:43 ADANA - Seven teenagers including HDP Party Assembly (PM) and Youth Council member Ferhat Kalkan were accused of 'being a member of a terrorist organization' on grounds that they went on a picnic together.   10 people 3 of whom are minors were detained during house raids on August 7-8 as a result of an investigation carried out by Adana Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, including Peoples' Democratic Party PM and Youth Council Member Ferhat Kalkan. Those detained were taken to court and released afterwards with judicial control measures.   Completing the investigation, Adana Chief Public Prosecutor's Office prepared an indictment against Ferhat Kalkan, Ferhat Sezgin, Muhammed Seyit Barış, Gaffar Meşe, İbrahim Önen, Hasan Arslan and Serdal Arslan with the accusation of 'being a member of a terrorist organization', 'Instigation to damage property by burning' and 'damaging property by burning' and filed a law suit.   Claiming that the HDP Youth Assembly is being used as a cover up for the members of 'Democratic Youth Movement' (DGH), the prosecutor considered all activities of the young men as crimes.   It was also seen that the file contained statements of people who gave their statements for other files. As a result of these statements, Kalkan was accused of burning down two supermarkets in Seyhan in 2020.    GOING ON A PICNIC IS THE EVIDENCE OF MEMBERSHIP TO A TERRORIST ORGANIZATION   The prosecutor charged the young men with 'being a member of a terrorist organization' on grounds that they went on a picnic together and called the families of their friends in prison from time to time, which was evaluated by the prosecutor as 'moral support for the families of PKK members'.   The first hearing will be held in January 7.
