1 year 3 months prison sentence for journalist Müftüoğlu 2020-12-02 15:28:45 DİYARBAKIR - DFG Co-Chair Dicle Müftüoğlu was sentenced to 1 year and 3 months in prison for sharing a photograph on grounds that she 'propagandized a terrorist organization'.   Mesopotamia Agency (MA) editor and Dicle Fırat Journalists Association (DFG) Co-chair Dicle Müftüoğlu was sentenced to 1 year and 3 months in prison for sharing a photograph taken by Dicle News Agency (DİHA) regarding the clashes in Kobané in 2014 in her social media account. The prosecutor demanded 5 years of prison for Müftüoğlu. The hearing was held in Diyarbakır 11th High Criminal Court.   Making her defense, Müftüoğlu said her agency DİHA was following the news on the attacks of ISIS against Kobané and said: "The photo I shared was one of the photos taken by my agency. We live in a digital age. I shared it so more people were able to see it. I had no other intentions. I do not accept the charges. I demand my acquittal."   The court board sentenced Müftüoğlu to 1 year and 3 months in prison on grounds that she 'propagandized a terrorist organization'. The court also decided the deferment of the announcement of the verdict.
