Mother who lost her daughter in Shengal Massacre: We must stand against war 2020-11-26 12:33:36 ANKARA - Peace Mother Kadriye Özgan who lost her daughter in the ISIS attack against Shengal, called on to the mothers to stand against the war desired to be created in Federated Kurdistan Region.    The deployment of the Peshmerga forces affilliated to Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) to Zînî Wertê district located in Federated Kurdistan Region back in March, the Shengal Agreement made between the Iraqi Central Government and Federated Kurdistan Region administration and the deployment of a special force affiliated with the KDP to Garé district increased the concerns of the Kurdish forces. The process which evolved to a possible conflict between Kurds caused reactions.   A CALL TO BARZANİ   A call to the KDP came from Peace Mother Kadriye Özgan (50) who lost her daughter Mizgin Özgan in the ISIS attack against Shengal on August 3, 2014. Özgan said: "We don't want brothers and sisters killing each other. It is painful that we are talking about war, when we need to unite and talk about peace. This is my call to Barzani. Prevent this war."   Stating that the Kurdish people are insistant on their demand for peace, Özgan said she is shedding tears for every Kurdish child that loses their lives.   THE ROLE OF TURKEY   Commenting on the role of Turkey regarding the tension desired to be created between Kurdish forces, Özgan said: "If Turkey succeeds this, then it will come to the Federated Kurdistan. The kurds will be removed from there and FSA will be settled there, persecuting the Kurdish people. The Kurds want to live in their own land but they will be the ones to be exiled."   THE IMPOTANCE OF NATIONAL UNITY   Underlining the need for national unity against tension, Özgan said: “When the Kurds become one, they will have their own rights. They will study in their own language. We just need to be one to keep our culture alive. Ensuring the freedom of the Kurdish people will mean that other peoples will also get their rights. This is what Erdogan and other states do not accept. The Kurds that support Erdoğan must stop."   THE HALABJA MASSACRE   Reminding of the Halabja Massacre, Özgan underlined the importance of all mothers standing against war and act together. Özgan said: "No mother should shed tears anymore. No one should be tricked. When my daughter died I joined the Peace Mothers to prevent other mother's children dying. Mothers should flock to the borders and shout out that they don't want war. We did that in Kobané war and removed the borders. We can do it again. The youth is dying. We should be the ones to die. We accept to die in their place. I will lie in front of that border until I have a drop of blood left in me, as long as it leads to peace."     MA / Emrullah Acar
