Journalist Oruç released from prison 2020-11-09 12:57:22 NEWS CENTER - Journalist Aziz Oruç was released from prison at the third hearing of the case.  The third hearing of the case against journalist Aziz Oruç and Muhammet İkram Müftüoğlu and HDP Doğubeyazıt District Co-Chair Abdullah Ekelek who were accused of helping Oruç was held in Ağrı 3rd High Criminal Court. Journalist Oruç attended the hearing via Audio Visual and Information System (SEGBİS) from Patnos Type L Prison.  Oruç's attorney Erhan Çiftçiler and attorney Erselam Aktan from the Media and Law Studies Association (MLSA) were also present at the hearing.   Press workers were not allowed to follow the hearing due to the coronavirus (Kovid-19) outbreak.   Speaking at the hearing, Oruç repeated his previous statements and said that he was not affiliated with any organization. Stating that he is under great risk due to the outbreak, Oruç requested his release.    MLSA attorney Erhan Çiftçiler reminded the statement of the Ministry of Interior about Oruç and said: "Those statements are stressing and pressuring the court board. They tried to realize that statement in the previous hearings. What happened was a simple border violation situation" and requested Oruç's release.   Deciding to release Oruç, the court postponed the next hearing to April 2021.
