2 years 4 months prison sentence for Roza- Country of Two Rivers documentary 2020-11-04 16:02:06 ANKARA - Director Kutbettin Cebe was sentenced to 2 years and 4 months in prison for the documentary Roza-The Country of Two Rivers. The final hearing of the case filed against Kutbettin Cebe, who was on trial for the documentary Roza-The Country of Two Rivers, which tells the story of the resistance against ISIS in North Syria and the communal life was held in Balıkesir 3rd High Criminal Court. Cebe who is accused of 'propagandizing a terrorist organization' attended the hearing while his attorney Ebru Akkal attended the hearing via Video Information System (SEGBİS) from Ankara 28th High Criminal Court.    Cebe's attorney Ebru Akkal, who was asked to defend the merits, said, "The legal elements of the crime imposed on the client have not been formed. We demand that the client be acquitted. We also demand the removal of the international traveling ban and the return of the digital materials."   "I ASK QUESTIONS IN DOCUMENTARIES"   Speaking at the hearing, Cebe denied the accusations and said, "I made a documentary. At that time, there was a war with ISIS. It is out of question for me to propagandize any terrorist organization. In a documentary, I ask questions, the other party answers", and demanded his acquittal.   Announcing its decision, the court sentenced Cebe to 2 years and 4 months in prison. Attorney Akkal said that they will bring the decision before the Court of Appeal.
