Êzidî Journalist Burç: Shengal aggreement could lead to new massacres 2020-10-19 10:51:40   İSTANBUL - Stating that the Shengal agreement being signed on October 9 is a message to the Kurds, Êzidî Journalist Eyip Burç, told that the operation against Serêkaniyê and Girê Spî started at the same date and warned that a new massacre might be on the way.   While reactions continue to the agreement signed between the Iraqi Central Government and the Federated Kurdistan Regional Government regarding the Êzidî homeland Shengal on 9 October, the date of the agreement draws attention to its similarity with the operation against Serekaniye and Girê Spî. The statements made by the US Department of State officials at the press conference held for journalists on the results of the US-Iraq strategic talks in Washington on August 19 reveal who the architect of the Shengal agreement is. At the meeting, the US State Department Middle East Specialist Deputy First Minister Joey Hood, stating that they can work together with Federated Kurdistan Regional Government, Iraq and  Turkey was the first sign of the agreement.   SAME SCENERIO IN GİRÊ SPÎ AND SERÊKANİYÊ   Indeed, suggesting the buffer zone model for the solution of the problems in terms of North and East Syria Autonomous Administration and Turkey, US paved the way for the operation against Girê Spî and Serêkaniyê that started on October 9, 2019.   Speaking about the issue, Êzidî Journalist Eyüp Burç warned that the agreement will make the Kurdish people lost a lot and cause new massacres.   Underlining that Shengal is a regional part of Rojava, Burç said, "Shengal is a strategic place because it is at a point where it can be to South West Kurdistan. Turkey is uncomfortable with Shengal creating its own status and administrative units. The two power do not have the same perspective. Êzidî Kurds ruling themselves is not a problem for United States. US approaches the issue on Hashd al- Shaabi point while Turkey says it is uncomfortable because of the PKK. But both sides agree when they come together. We all know that PKK went there to rescue the Êzidî. PKK was the only force fighting there when the massacre started. Later the Êzidî established its own self-defence forces, the YBŞ. They established their assembly. Turkey doesn't like that."   Burç made the following evaluations regarding the agreement that took place under three titles, security, administration and construction, Burç said: "Construction is understandable. We are all for the construction of Shengal.  500 thousand Yazidis are still living in camps. Their return to their villages and homes is a matter of conscience not only for the Kurds, but for humanity. But the main issue is security and governance. It is understood here that the two powers are signing such an agreement without respecting the people, without asking a single representative about their opinion, organizing conferences and symposiums, carrying out studies. They also appointed a district governor, whom they stated to be impartial. Who is this district governor? Which parliamentary committees elected him? How can such a decision be taken without resorting to the will of the Êzidîs? This is not a decision that Êzidî will accept ”.   'A STILLBORN AGREEMENT'   Underlining that the agreement was stillborn and should not be taken seriously, Burç pointed out that this could lead to serious conflicts in the field. Stating that there is no strong Baghdad administration that can put the agreement into effect, Burç said: “Those who ruled before left us in the middle of the massacre. The people are asking why our defenders will be "expelled and fired" and the defense forces of Shengal's own children will be purged. So you're not coming to protect me with my own strength. Your intention is to conquer the people in line with the needs of someone."   Stating that Turkey is the only party benefiting from the agreement, Burç said: "Turkey will be the only party to benefit from this agreement. That's why its quiet. Otherwise it would be screaming its head off. This agreements is not in the interest of the Kurds or the Êzidî. Kurds and Kurdistan will lose as a result of this agreement. the Êzidî will lose and will be expecting new massacres in a matter of few years." Burç told that the reason for the Êzidî to have gone through so many massacres is that they were always governed by other countries. Now KDP that have left the Êzidî in the middle of a massacre twice says that they will protect them. No one can trust KDP. This being the fact, Êzidî will not wellcome KDP in Shengal."   THE AGREEMENT IS THE MESSENGER OF NEW MASSACRES   Underlining that the agreement will lead to new massacres, Burç said that the Êzidî will not accept the agreement. Burç emphasized that the Êzidî has its own self- power to govern itself and this must be respected.     MA / İdris Sayılğan
