First hearing of rape offender Sergeant Orhan to be held tomorrow 2020-10-15 11:11:28 SİİRT - According to the information obtained, Specialized Sergeant Musa Orhan will attend the first hearing of the case against him via SEGBİS. Orhan who raped İpek Er in Siirt and caused her to commit suicide is being tried without arrest. The first hearing of the case against Musa Orhan who is charged with 'qualified sexual assault' will be held at Siirt 1st High Criminal Court.  It was learned that the perpetrator of rape, Orhan, will attend the hearing, which will be attended by the representatives of many women's associations, rights organizations and bar association women's rights center, from a courthouse in Ankara via the Audio Visual and Composition System (SEGBİS).   HE WAS JAILED ONLY FOR A WEEK   Driven to suicide after being raped, İpek Er died on August 18, after 20 days of struggle at the hospital. Upon the application of the lawyers to the court following the death of Er, rape offender Orhan was arrested on August 19 with the charge of 'qualified sexual assault'. As a result of Orhan's lawyer Mehmet Erkan Akkuş's appeal to the Siirt 2nd High Criminal Court against his client's detention, the court decided to release Orhan on August 25. The Siirt 2nd High Criminal Court, which is the upper court, accelerated the release of Orhan by writing the release warrant to the prison, without sending the decision of release to the 1st High Criminal Court.   Not taking into account the former statements of Er, her suicide letter and the statements of her family, Siirt 2nd High Criminal Court claimed that the 'sexual intercourse' was consensual and there was no strong suspicion of crime. The appeals of the Siirt Chief Public Prosecutor's Office and the Siirt Bar Association were rejected on the grounds that the court decision was finalized.   STATEMENT OF THE MINISTER OF INTERIOR   Responding to the reactions that occurred upon the death of Er, Interior Minister Süleyman Soylu said, “When a security officer is involved in such an incident, we first sideline him and then dismiss him. The suspension for this specialist sergeant took place a month ago, and the dismissal was immediately initiated. It is necessary to consider the event with all its stages and examine it carefully. I have full confidence that the judiciary will also do its part."   In another statement made by the Ministry of Interior, before the rape offender Orhan was dismissed from his duty, it was stated that legal action would be initiated against the media organs that brought the release decision on the agenda.   HIS STATEMENT WAS NOT TAKEN   It was learned that in addition to the lawsuit filed for "qualified sexual abuse", even the statement of Orhan was not taken for the crime of 'driving a person to suicide' and no progress was made in the criminal complaint filed by her family and her lawyers.   Rape offender Orhan who was released in a week from prison will appear before the judge tomorrow at the first hearing. Lawyers of the family will demand the arrest of the defendant Orhan.     MA / Aydın Atay
