AKP giving tablet computers to students on condition of being a member of AKP 2020-10-13 10:49:29   VAN – AKP members who went to the container city in Van where the earthquake survivors are staying, said they can only give the tablets if the parents of the students become members of AKP. Some families protested the situation and said they will not sell their honour for a tablet pc.   Students in 2nd, 3rd, 4th grade of primary school, village schools, 8th and 12th graders, high school prep students and special needs students have started face to face education as of yesterday, following the  the second phase of the transition to face-to-face education planning of the Ministry of National Education. According to the new plan students will go to school 2 days a week and attend distant education classes 3 days a week.   500 THOUSAND TABLET COMPUTERS WILL BE DISTRIBUTED   Visiting a primary school in Çankırı on the first day of the face-to-face education, the Minister of National Education Ziya Selçuk announced that the tablets, which they previously announced to be distributed to 500 thousand students, have started to be distributed. However parents of the students that will recieve the tablets were forced to become members to AKP in order to get the tablets.   AKP members, who went to the container city, which was established in the İstasyon Mahallesi of İpekyolu district for the families of the earthquake victims after the earthquake disaster in 2011. AKP members going from door to door, said they can only give the tablets if the parents become members to AKP.    Rasim Acar, who lives in the container city with his family, said that the AKP members who came to the container city said that they would distribute tablets to their families, and in return they asked for their identity information and photographs to become members of the AKP.   Stating that some families had to accept being members to make sure their children attend to online classes, Acar said: "They don't have the right to threaten people into being a member of the AKP. People staying in this container city is poor. And they are using their poverty in their advantage. Whatever my political opinion is, no political party has the right to threaten me into being their member. What is the price for a tablet pc? They do not recognize you or your will."   'THEY ARE TAKING ADVANTAGE OF OUR POVERTY'   Stating that they are living in a container for 9 years, Süheyla Yıldız said that they have a right to those tablet computers but AKP is taking advantage of their poverty politically. Yıldız said: "We are poor and they are taking advantage of it in terms of politics, work or money."   'MY CHILD WON'T GO TO SCHOOL IF NECESSARY'   One of the residents of the camp, İran Acar said that those who become members of AKP is full while those who do not become members are hungry. Stating that this is unacceptable, Acar said: "I will never become an AKP member for a tablet computer. My child won't attend school if necessary. I won't sell my honour and dignity for a tablet PC."
