8 years prison sentence to HDP former Muş Provincial Co-Chair Karagüzel 2020-09-16 15:12:51 MUŞ - HDP former Muş Provincial Co-Chair Muhlise Karagüzel was sentenced to 8 years and 1 months of prison sentence at the final hearing of the law suit filed against her.  The final hearing of the case against Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) former Muş Provincial Co-Chair Muhlise Karagüzel was held at MUş 2'nd High Criminal Court where she was accused of 'being a member of an illegal organization'. 59-year-old sick prisoner Karagüzel was connected to the hearing with the Audio Informatics Visual System (SEGBİS) from Kayseri Bünyan Women's Closed Prison. HDP Muş Deputy Gülistan Kılıç Koçyiğit followed the hearing at the courtroom in which lawyers were present.   8 YEARS OF PRISON SENTENCE   Speaking at the hearing, Karagüzel repeated her previous defense and demanded her release as did her attorney. Following the hearing of the defences,  the court sentenced Karagüzel to 8 years and 1 month in prison for with the accusation of 'being a member of an illegal organization'.    HDP Muş provincial co-chairs Muhlise Karagüzel, Ferhat Çakı and Kudbettin Çelik were detained in house raids in Muş on August 11, 2019. While Çelik was released after giving his statement to the prosecutor, Co-chairs Karagüzel and Ferhat Çakı were arrested with the accusation of 'being a member of an illegal organization'. Karagüzel has diabetes, high blood pressure and asthma. In addition, if Karagüzel does not have a second surgery, she will face the risk of losing her vision.
