Ankara Bar Association: Questioning the professional activity of lawyers is illegal 2020-09-14 12:25:42   ANKARA - Ankara Bar Association reacted to the detention of 60 people, 48 of whom were lawyers, in Ankara, saying that lawyers were identified with their clients and the practices carried out were unlawful.   Within the scope of the "FETÖ" investigation opened in Ankara, a total of 60 were detained, 48 of which are lawyers. Ankara Bar Association made a written statement regarding the detention of lawyers.   In the statement which reads the Ankara Bar Association Lawyers' Rights Center were appointed when the police informed that 24 different law offices will be raided and searched, the fact that the lawyer could not be identified with their clients was emphasized.   Stating that the rules specified in Article 58 of the Attorneyship Law and Article 130 of the Criminal Procedure Code (CMK) were clearly violated in search and seizure procedures, Ankara Bar Association listed the unlawful practices.   The statement underlined that the right to a fair trial was violated and the lawyers were identified with their clients, which is against the law. Ankara Bar Association also demanded the confidentiality order on the files of the lawyers must immediately be removed as well as stating that they will be following the case closely and said: "As Ankara Bar Association, we inform the public that we will continue to follow the investigation process effectively, and that legal actions will be taken against all officers who commit illegal processings."
