Number of people detained in ESP operation increases to 14 2020-09-08 11:26:14   İSTANBUL - The number of people detained in the operation against ESP increased to 14, including HDK Co-Spokesperson Sedat Şenoğlu.   The number of people detained in the operation against Socialist Party of the Oppressed (ESP) in a scope of investigation launched by İstanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office on September 2020 increased to 14. The residences of the 14 people raided by the police simultaneously in Antalya, Diyarbakır, Hatay and İzmir.    Those detained in the operation are: "Peoples' Democratic Congress (HDK) Co-Spokesperson Sedat Şenoğlu, ESP PM members Çiçek Otlu, Volkan Uyar, Mustafa Naci Toper, and party members Selver Orman, İlke Başak Baydar, Yücel Karadağ, Ozan Özgenler, Ozancan Sarı, İlhan Aslan, Alper Kaba, Ezgi Bedel, Zekeriya Aykut Karnap and Gözde Sivaslıoğlu."   As part of the same investigation, the homes of party members Özgür Barçın and Bedran Çoğaltan were also raided. It was learned that both names could not be taken into custody because they were not at home at the time.      THE RESIDENCE OF THE ATTORNEYS WAS ALSO RAIDED   It was also learned that the residence of the lawyers of  Law Office of the Oppressed (EHB) was also raided in scope of the same investigation. EHB said on twitter: ""Within the scope of the operation against our clients with ESP, the house where our lawyers were staying was searched. Nobody was detained because there was nobody at home."   It was learned that the operation was against 17 people.    It was stated that the detainees were taken to the Istanbul Police Headquarters on Vatan Avenue. Lawyers of the Law Office of the Oppressed went to the Police Department and wanted to meet with their clients. However, the lawyers were prevented from meeting due to the 24-hour restriction decision.   ETHA REPORTER IS IN DETENTION   It was also stated that Etkin News Agency (ETHA) reporter Serdal Işık was also detained within the scope of a different investigation.
