Reina case: One defendant sentenced to life imprisonment aggravated for 40 times 2020-09-08 09:27:12   NEWS CENTER - In the final hearing of the attack on Reina nightclub, Masharipov has been given a life sentence aggravated for 40 times on charges of “attempting to overthrow the Constitutional order” and “deliberate killing” and to 1,368 years in prison on other charges.   The final hearing of the lawsuit filed into the armed attack that claimed the lives of 39 people and wounded 79 others in Reina nightclub in İstanbul on the new year's day in 2017 was held yesterday (September 7).   Announcing its ruling, the İstanbul 27th Heavy Penal Court has ruled that defendant Abdulkadir Masharipov shall be sentenced to life imprisonment aggravated for 40 times for "attempting to overthrow the Constitutional order" and "deliberate killing" and to 1,368 years in prison on charges of "attempting to kill" 79 people and "violating the Law no. 6136 on Firearms."   Arrested for being one of the plotters of the attack and aiding Masharipov, defendant İlyas Mamaşaripov has been sentenced to 1,432 years in prison on charges of "aiding in deliberate killing," "aiding in violating the Constitution" and "aiding in attempted deliberate killing."   While the court has acquitted 11 defendants on all offenses charged, it has sentenced some defendants to varying prison sentences on charge of "being members of a terrorist organization."   There were 60 defendants in total in the Reina case, 17 of these defendants were arrested pending trial.
