COVID-19: Turkey reports highest daily death toll since May 17 2020-08-31 12:34:16 NEWS CENTER - The Ministry of Health has announced that Turkey’s coronavirus death toll has risen to 6,326 and the total number of cases to 268,546. 42 people have died of the virus and 1,482 people have tested positive in the last 24 hours.   The Ministry of Health announced the latest figures on novel coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak in Turkey yesterday (August 30).   While 1,482 people have tested positive, 42 people have died of COVID-19 in the last 24 hours. 1,027 people have recovered. The number of tests conducted in the last 24 hours has been announced as 91,302.   According to the figures announced till today, 7,028,390 COVID-19 tests have been conducted in Turkey so far. While the total number of cases is 268,546, the death toll has reached 6,326.   While 945 patients are reportedly in critical condition, the rate of COVID-19 patients with pneumonia has been announced as 7.5 percent. The total number of recovered patients is 243,839.   Citing the Ministry data, Health Minister Fahrettin Koca has said on Twitter, "The demand for tests was less than yesterday. However, we have 1,482 new patients in spite of this. Our number of seriously ill patients is increasing, which also increases the number of lives that we lose. We can do it only if we wage the struggle together. The power lies in measures."   Since originating in China last December, COVID-19 has claimed nearly 843,600 lives in 188 countries and regions. Over 25 million cases have been reported worldwide while over 16.47 million patients have recovered so far, according to figures compiled by Johns Hopkins University.
