Timtik's body abducted by the police finally brought to Gazi Djemevi

	İSTANBUL - Body of Lawyer Ebru Timtik who lost her life as a result of a death fast she started demanding fair trial was finally brought to Gazi Djemevi by the police. 

	 

	Ebru Timtik and Aytaç Ünsal are lawyers of the left-wing association "People's Legal Office" (HHB) and went on hunger strike together with other imprisoned colleagues in February, which they turned into a "death fast" on April 5th - the "Day of Lawyers".

	 

	Timtik lost her life yesterday on day 238 of death fast at the Dr. Sadi Konuk Hospital in Bakırköy district of Istanbul where she was held against her will. Her body was then taken to the Forensic Medicine Institute (ATK) in Yenibosna.

	 

	Police forces have today attacked the relatives, friends and colleagues of Timtik who were waiting in front of the ATK to claim the body. The people were prevented from reclaiming the body and some lawyers were also battered during the crackdown. Then Timtik's body was abducted by the police. 

	 

	Timtik was finally brought to Gazi Djemevi under heavy police blocade. While water cannons are placed at the enterance and the exit of the djemevi, all the doors of the djemevi are closed by the police. The press are being prevented from entering the djemevi. Timtik's friends and relatives are wailing for Timtik at the djemevi yard. 

	 

	The vicinity of the djemevi is being surveiled by helicopters. 

	 

	Timtik's sister Barkın Timtik applied for a permit to attend to her sister's funeral. The time of the burial will become definite according to the response to Barkın Timtik's application.
