'Amnesty attempts are threat to all children' 2020-07-22 13:35:27 HATAY - Attorney Mehtap Sert, calling the government to abandon smearing the İstanbul Convention and the Violence Law No. 6284, stated that the attempts to grant amnesty to these people is a threat to all childen. İskenderun Women's Platform, Arsuz City Council and CHP Arusz District Women's Commission made a press statement in Eğitim-Sen Branch building regarding the child abuse law. Many women attended the press release with the banner 'We are not mourning, we are rebelling'.   SMEAR CAMPAIGN   Speaking in the statement that noted the situation of Pınar Gültekin, who was murdered by a man in Muğla, Attorney Mehtap Sert said: Opposing the İstanbul Convention is an encouragement to men who commit violence against women and a threat to all women. Sert stated that there is a smear campaign against İstanbul Convention and Violence Law No. 6284 since the TBMM Divorce Commission Report.    Stating that these laws are not implemented efficiently, Sert said: "End these rhetoric that promotes physical, sexual, psychological and economic violence and discrimination against women and girls. Ensure that the national mechanism of combating violence with sufficient numbers of women counseling centers, refuges, sexual violence crisis centers across the country."   Emphasizing that opposing the İstanbul Convention is an encouragement to men who abuse children and a threat to and children, Sert said: "This amnesty attempt should not only be postponed; It should be completely removed from the country's agenda, never to come up again.
