Detention period of 48 people taken into custody in Suruç Commemoration extended 2020-07-21 14:39:04 İSTANBUL – While 6 of the 54 people taken into custody during the commemoration of Suruç Massacre yesterday, the detention period of 48 people were extended. Most of the people under custody are battered and have scars and bruises.   4 lawyers and 2 minors who were taken into custody yesterday evening during the commemoration of the Suruç Massacre was released late last night. The detention period of the 48 people who are being held in Vatan Security Directorate have been extended for 24 more hours.   TORTURE IN POLICE CAR   Lawyers Association for Freedom İstanbul Branch Co-Chaşr Ferat Boğatekin who saw his clients, said that almost all of them has bruises and scars on their bodies. Boğatekin stated that his clients were beaten while being taken into custody and the beating continued at the police car where they were held for 4 hours handcuffed behind the back.   HANDCUFFED BEHIND THE BACK DURING INTERROGATION   Stating those under custody are accused of 'opposing the law no 2911 on meetings and demonstrations', 'resisting the police' and 'causing damage to property TCK no 151', Boğatekin said his clients were handucffed behind the back during the depositions. Stating that the detention period was extended for 24 more hours, Boğatekin underlined that they will file criminal complaints with the assault reports of his clients.
