Hunger strike to Didem Akman who has been on death fast 2020-07-10 17:11:00 İZMİR - Three women in Şakran Women's Closed Prison launched a hunger strike for Didem Akman, who has been on death fast since February 19. Didem Akman, in Şakran Women's Closed Prison in İzmir and Özgür Karakaya, in had been on a death fast with a number of demands, in Şakran Closed Prison, have been on a death fast with demands of fair trial and the improvement of prison conditions since February 19.   It was reported that prisoners named Sevil Karaaslan, Evin Şahin and Mizgin Çiçek, in Şakran Women's Closed Prison, launched a 10-day hunger strike to draw attention to the situation of Akman whose health condition has been increasingly worsening.   PREVIOUS ATTEMPT OF FORCE FEEDING    Akman and Karakaya were previously abducted from their prison cells for forced feeding and taken to the hospital inside the prison campus. After two days of constant pressure to be medically examined, the political prisoners who rejected the forced feeding and treatment to continue their death fast returned to their cells. In a telephone conversation with her mother after the incident Didem Akman spoke about her abduction and the time she spent in the prison hospital. “We were tortured under the name of medical examination. They took blood samples from us by force. That is, they shed our blood on the ground. And these people call themselves doctors," said Akman.
