Urfa Bar Association Head: We will keep on struggle until the draft bill is withdrawn 2020-07-05 12:37:01 ANKARA - Abdullah Öncel, the head of the Urfa Bar Association, who has been participating the protests outside the Turkish Parliament against the draft bill that aims to adopt multiple bar system, said, "We will keep on struggle until the draft bill is withdrawn." As the negotiations at the Parliamentary Justice Commission continue regarding the draft bill submitted to parliament by the government, the bar heads continue their sit-in outside the Turkish Parliament on their 4th day. Bar heads spent the whole night at the Çankaya Gate of the Parliament under the police blockade. During the night, members of the Republican People's Party (CHP) and Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) visited the 20 bar associations head.    Abdullah Öncel, Head of the Urfa Bar Association is among the bar heads' sit-in protest. Önce spoke to the Mezopotamya Agency (MA).   'THERE CAN BE NEW DEVELOPMENTS'   Underlining that they are hold a sit-in with no slogans as they also pay attention to the "physical distancing" in the garden of the Parliament, Öncel said, "Especially after we stated that we were going to sit in front of the (police) barriers, the bar heads  started to get in the barriers encountering no obstacles showing their ID's."   "I would like to say thanks to all the politicians who stand in solidarity with us. (Parliamentary) Justice Commission continue the negotiations regarding the draft bill and it is expected to finish by today," said Öncel and added, "If the negotiations are over today, then there can be new developments here. So the definite plan about what we would do after the negotiations has not been decided upon yet, but we will announce the public when come up with a decision. We will keep on struggle until the draft bill is withdrawn."   Öncel announced their press statement which will be held outside the Turkish Parliament's gate at 14.00 (GMT+03:00) in the afternoon.
